I have been going to FTP for a couple of months. I'm not a regular because of other commitments. I try to make it at least 2-3 times a week, the other days I do a lot of walking and other cardio activities. I live in Suffolk and work on Indian River Road. I drive from work to FTP then home to Suffolk that should tell you something about Billy Yancey's FTP Gym and crew that work there. If it doesn't then I'll tell you. I have done many diets and gyms.
This is the first (and I'm old enough to know a few) gym that I walk out of with a positive attitude about myself. And that positive attitude doesn't just come from working on me. It comes from the people that use this gym and the people that work there! This place is well worth my time, gas, and energy! Billy knows what he is doing and works with you. Oh yea, and it's the first gym I've been to that doesn't smell like a gym! Try it, you'll love it and tell them Linda from Suffolk sent you!

Two years ago I walked into Face The Pain Gym...sounded a little frightening at first...especially for someone who had not worked out regularly at a gym in a while. But, what I found was more than just another gym. Billy (in his quiet but firm manner) inspires you to push your body and mind to a higher level. Facing the pain equals to feeling and looking better. Billy always has his watchful eye on everyone working out...just making sure you are doing it right!! A big bonus to this is having Billy and his lovely wife, Lisa as friends. You could not ask for more.

I first met Billy about 15 years ago when he was training and working at Flex Gym, a rather intimidating environment for a novice like myself who never before lifted a weight. In no time, however, Billy taught me the exercises and techniques to the point where I could work out on my own. He also emphasized the need to stick with it and I have been religiously doing so ever since.
Both Billy and I left Flex (and had lost touch) but one day I happened to notice a new gym on my way home and found out it was Billy's new place. I stopped by and immediately was made to feel at home. All the necessary equipment was there without crowds. Everyone inside was like family or old friends and I signed up right then.
Lucky for me! Since joining, I have unfortunately had several significant orthopedic issues that required rehabilitation. As soon as the doctors would allow me, I got back to the gym and under Billy's guidance I was able to recover and get back to full activity in no time. In fact, prior to my hip replacement surgery I began working with Billy to prepare for the surgery and am convince this quickened recovery time.
Currently due to a busy work schedule I have been training several mornings a week. Billy is able to create a great workout despite the time constraints. Being able to stay in shape and "burn of" stress plays a huge part in my overall quality of life.
Thanks Billy for all your help.
I wouldn't do it without you.

When a newspaper article described how Billy Yancey trained his elderly grandmother, I decided to give the man a chance. My hunch was totally correct. Billy teaches and encourages you as he continues to expect more and more; he never belittles or ridicules. Billy is a teacher with very high expectations. I am no jock, but I am doing things I never thought possible. I am a senior citizen and, for the first time ever, I am addicted to physical training. Billy has made a believer out of me.

I met Billy at Beach Ford in October 2007. He invited me to visit the gym; with I did and have been a member for 1 1/2 years now. I haven't felt this good physically in years. Even after knee replacement surgery, I kept my nose to the grind stone. Thanks for all the encouragement! I read a quote not long ago that really brought it all together for me, "The Pain of Discipline May Last Awhile, But the Pain of Regret Lasts Forever". Thanks for all the encouragement, after losing 3 pan sizes and over 30 lbs. being part of "Face the Pain" has changed me physically and mentally.
THANKS AGAIN!

Dear Face the Pain / Team X family,
I have nothing but praise and admiration for Billy, Lisa and 'Face the Pain/Team X'. When I started working out, back in September, I had no idea what was in store. It began much like I begin each school year with my students. There was period of 'assessment' (during which Billy tested me to see just how bad off I really was), followed by a period of 'design'(during which he tailored a special brand of challenging - yet - accomplishable work outs). I got comfortable with the '3 days a week' routine. I felt good, I was starting to see real results and I thought, "This is O.K". This phase lasted just long enough to get me hooked on the endorphins...and then came the next phase. I call this the 'Appreciation Phase'. This was/is the phase where my workouts went from a tri-weekly obligation to a total lifestyle change. My son, daughter and husband were all involved n my turn around. Billy had my daughter working out side-by-side with me, my son and I were exchanging 'Billy' stories about our workouts and my husband was going along with all of the new dietary modifications I had imposed on everyone (no sugar, less gluten, low cab, everything, no sodas,..) without a single complaint. This phase was/is the single most challenging and rewarding thing I've ever done. I lost 57lbs and my blood pressure is better than it has been in years.
Billy and Lisa will never know the true extent of how their influence has touched, and changed our lives, and the lives of the people we love. We are healthier, we spend more time together (working out, walking...), and some of our relatives have been inspired by our weight loss and overall good health. My sisters are now walking after work, my aunt has started working with trainer in Atlanta, and my co-workers want to start an after school walking club.
Prior to meeting and working with Billy, I did not sweat EVER! After working with Billy and Lisa, I feel like a day isn't complete, unless I've sweat at least once. I have been pushed harder and further than I ever knew was possible.
All that's left to say is
Thanks!
You are appreciated!!
